Thus says the LORD:“The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you and be yours;they shall follow you;they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will plead with you, saying:‘Surely God is in you, and there is no other,no god besides him.’”15 Truly, you are a God who hides yourself,O God of Israel, the Saviour.16 All of them are put to shame and confounded;the makers of idols go in confusion together.17 But Israel is saved by the LORDwith everlasting salvation;you shall not be put to shame or confoundedto all eternity.18 For thus says the LORD,who created the heavens(he is God!),who formed the earth and made it(he established it;he did not create it empty,he formed it to be inhabited!):“I am the LORD, and there is no other.19 I did not speak in secret,in a land of darkness;I did not say to the offspring of Jacob,‘Seek me in vain.’I the LORD speak the truth;I declare what is right.20 ¶ “Assemble yourselves and come;draw near together, you survivors of the nations! They have no knowledgewho carry about their wooden idols, and keep on praying to a godthat cannot save.21 Declare and present your case;let them take counsel together!Who told this long ago?Who declared it of old?Was it not I, the LORD?And there is no other god besides me,a righteous God and a Saviour;there is none besides me.22 “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.23 By myself I have sworn;from my mouth has gone out in righteousnessa word that shall not return:‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.’
COME, let us join our cheerful songswith angels round the throne;ten thousand thousand are their tongues, but all their joys are one.2 ‘Worthy the Lamb that died’, they cry,‘to be exalted thus!’‘Worthy the Lamb’, our lips reply,‘for He was slain for us!’3 Jesus is worthy to receivehonour and power divine;and blessings, more than we can give,be, Lord, for ever Thine.4 The whole creation join in one,to bless the sacred Nameof Him that sits upon the throne, and to adore the Lamb.
In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. To them he presented himself alive after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
IN the tomb so cold they laid Him,death its victim claimed.Powers of hell, they could not hold Him,back to life He came!
Christ is risen!death has been conquered!Christ is risen! He shall reign for ever!
2 Hell had spent its fury on Him,left Him crucified:yet by blood He boldly conquered, sin and death defied!3 Now the fear of death is broken, love has won the crown:prisoners of the darkness – listen, walls are tumbling down.4 Raised from death, to heaven ascending, love’s exalted King:let His song of joy unendingthrough the nations ring!
