  • Hymn

HIGH in the heavens, eternal God,
Your goodness in full glory shines;
Your truth shall break through every cloud
that veils and darkens Your designs.

2 For ever firm Your justice stands,
as mountains their foundations keep;
wise are the wonders of Your hands;
Your judgments are a mighty deep.

3 Your providence is kind and large,
both man and beast Your bounty share:
the whole creation is Your charge,
but saints are Your especial care.

4 My God, how excellent Your grace,
whence all our hope and comfort springs!
The sons of Adam in distress
fly to the shadow of Your wings.

5 From the provisions of Your house
we shall be fed with sweet repast;
there mercy like a river flows,
and brings salvation to our taste.

6 Life, like a fountain rich and free,
springs from the presence of the Lord;
and in Your light our souls shall see
the glories promised in Your Word.

Micah 6:9-16

"The voice of the LORD cries to the city — and it is sound wisdom to fear your name: "Hear of the rod and of him who appointed it!
Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed?
Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?

Your rich men are full of violence; your inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Therefore I strike you with a grievous blow, making you desolate because of your sins. You shall eat, but not be satisfied, and there shall be hunger within you; you shall put away, but not preserve, and what you preserve I will give to the sword. You shall sow, but not reap; you shall tread olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil; you shall tread grapes, but not drink wine.

For you have kept the statutes of Omri, and all the works of the house of Ahab; and you have walked in their counsels, that I may make you a desolation, and your inhabitants a hissing; so you shall bear the scorn of my people."

  • Hymn

Whate’er my God ordains is right,
His holy will abideth;
I will be still whate’er He does,
And follow where He guideth.
He is my God, though dark my road;
He holds me that I shall not fall;
And so to Him I leave it all,
And so to Him I leave it all.

Whate’er my God ordains is right,
He never will deceive me;
He leads me by the proper path,
I know He will not leave me.
I take, content, what He has sent;
His hand can turn my griefs away;
And patiently I wait His day,
And patiently I wait His day.

Whate’er my God ordains is right,
Though now this cup in drinking
May bitter seem to my faint heart,
I take it all, unshrinking.
My God is true, each morn anew
Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart;
And pain and sorrow shall depart,
And pain and sorrow shall depart.

Whate’er my God ordains is right,
Here shall my stand be taken;
Though sorrow, need, or death be mine,
Yet I am not forsaken.
My Father’s care is round me there;
He holds me that I shall not fall;
And so to Him I leave it all,
And so to Him I leave it all.

John 14:15-27

"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you."

"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him." Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me."

"These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

  • Hymn

WE bless Thee for Thy peace, O God,
deep as the unfathomed sea,
which falls like sunshine on the road
of those who trust in Thee.

2 We ask not, Father, for repose
which comes from outward rest,
if we may have through all life’s woes
Thy peace within our breast –

3 That peace which suffers and is strong,
trusts where it cannot see,
thinks not the trial-way too long,
but leaves the end with Thee;

4 That peace which flows serene and deep,
a river in the soul,
whose banks a living verdure keep –
God’s sunshine o’er the whole.

5 O Father, give our hearts this peace,
whate’er the outward be,
till all life’s discipline shall cease,
and we go home to Thee.

YOU’RE the Word of God the Father,
from before the world began;
every star and every planet
has been fashioned by Your hand.
All creation holds together
by the power of Your voice:
let the skies declare Your glory,
let the land and seas rejoice!

You’re the Author of creation,
You’re the Lord of every man;
and Your cry of love rings out
across the lands.

Yet You left the gaze of angels,
came to seek and save the lost,
and exchanged the joy of heaven
for the anguish of a cross.
With a prayer You fed the hungry
with a word You stilled the sea;
yet how silently You suffered
that the guilty may go free.

You’re the Author of creation...

With a shout You rose victorious,
wresting victory from the grave,
and ascended into heaven
leading captives in Your wake.
Now You stand before the Father
interceding for Your own.
From each tribe and tongue and nation
You are leading sinners home.

You’re the Author of creation...

  • Hymn

I HEARD the voice of Jesus say,
‘Come unto Me and rest;
lay down, thou weary one, lay down
thy head upon My breast!’
I came to Jesus as I was,
weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting-place,
and He has made me glad.

2 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘Behold, I freely give
the living water – thirsty one,
stoop down, and drink, and live!’
I came to Jesus, and I drank
of that life-giving stream;
my thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
and now I live in Him.

3 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘I am this dark world’s Light;
look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,
and all thy day be bright.’
I looked to Jesus, and I found
in Him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk
till travelling days are done.
